At IGEL, we are committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive workplace by engaging in essential conversations that drive progress. One of those conversations took place at IGEL Now & Next 2025 in Miami, where I had the privilege of moderating a panel featuring Melissa Stein, Director of Product for End-User Computing at AWS; Akanksha Sehgal, Director of Worldwide Solution Engineering at Omnissa; Gretchen Irion, Director of PC Accessories at HP; and Marissa Schmidt, Senior Director Analyst at Gartner.

During the informative panel discussion, we explored topics ranging from mentorship to the significance of having a voice and a seat at the table in leadership discussions, embracing authenticity, and the need to promote an organization-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The discussion also underscored the value of lifelong learning and how it can empower all genders to build impactful and meaningful careers. Some of my key takeaways include:

  • The Transformative Power of Mentorship. Mentorship is crucial for fostering career growth, particularly for women, as emphasized by our panelists who advocated for structured mentorship programs featuring both internal and external mentors. They distinguished mentorship—providing guidance—from sponsorship, which promotes opportunities for women. Innovative approaches like “speed mentoring” and partnerships with organizations like Girls Who Code were highlighted as effective methods for enhancing professional growth. Additionally, the panelists stressed the significance of cross-generational knowledge sharing, where senior leaders and early-career professionals can learn from one another, thus forming a holistic mentorship culture that promotes trust and development.
  • Strategies to Conquer “Imposter Syndrome”. The discussion on imposter syndrome highlighted several key strategies to combat this common experience among women in the workplace. Encouraging women to share their ideas in meetings and provide opportunities for presentations to senior leadership can boost their confidence. Organizations should foster an inclusive environment by showcasing women’s contributions and supporting their professional growth. Additionally, leveraging team expertise and embracing continuous learning can help individuals manage self-doubt, reinforcing that it’s acceptable not to be an expert in every area.
  • Embracing Authenticity to Redefine Success. Our panelists emphasized that authenticity involves confidently presenting your whole self at work while leveraging your unique experiences and personal brand. They highlighted that individual experiences significantly influence diverse leadership styles and that there is no single effective approach to leadership. The importance of fostering environments that support various problem-solving strategies was also stressed, discouraging conformity to traditional methods.
  • Fostering DEI. Placing Inclusion at the heart of organizational culture is crucial for achieving success in DEI initiatives within the workplace. Our panelists highlighted the importance of launching diversity programs early in the education system, particularly during elementary and junior high school. They also suggested expanding recruitment pools and cautioned against traditional methods that often produce “cookie-cutter” candidates. Furthermore, our panelists emphasized the need to acknowledge personal biases and foster environments where individuals can genuinely be themselves. Concerning mentorship, it was noted that programs for women should also include male allies, develop a supportive network for underrepresented groups, and create opportunities for women returning to the workforce.
  • Commitment to Lifelong Learning. In today’s fast-changing tech landscape, resilience and adaptability are vital for professionals. Our panelists stressed that lifelong learning and a curious mindset are essential for success in the industry. They noted the need for technology skills due to the rise of AI, highlighting emerging careers like prompt engineering and understanding AI’s capabilities. Participants were encouraged to incorporate these skills into daily routines, such as meal planning, to gain practical experience and create effective AI prompts.

Concluding thoughts

In conclusion, the insights shared by the panelists at the IGEL Women in Tech event serve as a powerful reminder of the essential role women play in shaping the future of the technology industry. By fostering an environment that values self-acceptance, continuous learning, and diverse perspectives, we can cultivate a supportive ecosystem that empowers women to confidently share their voices.

As we advocate for inclusivity and nurture a culture that encourages everyone to thrive, we lay the groundwork for the next generation of female leaders. Let us continue this dialogue and commit to making a difference, ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to shine in the tech industry and beyond.

The Fontainebleau in Miami Beach will be the place to be later this month as IT professionals, industry experts, and End-User Computing (EUC) enthusiasts come together for IGEL Now & Next 2025, the premier event for EUC, endpoint security, and digital workspaces.

This four-day convergence of forward-thinking strategies, innovative solutions, and deep insights will showcase the future of digital workspaces, and we are thrilled to have Vasion as a Gold-level sponsor!

We sat down with Chee Tan, Vice President of Ecosystem, Alliances, and Corporate Development at Vasion, to learn more about the relationship between IGEL and Vasion and what attendees can expect to learn at IGEL Now & Next about how IGEL and Vasion are collaborating to secure printing and scanning for modern enterprises.

Tell us about your company and how you partner with IGEL. How long have you been an IGEL Ready partner?

Chee Tan: Vasion (formerly PrinterLogic) officially joined the IGEL Ready Program in October 2020. We are now entering the 5th year of our partnership.

What are some things your organization is doing together with IGEL to shape the future of EUC?

Chee Tan: Vasion offers secure, scalable print and output management solutions, helping EUC customers meet challenging and evolving security and scalability requirements.

Vasion’s integration with IGEL enables mutual customers–on any IGEL OS-powered endpoint–to eliminate print servers and ease print management in traditional, VDI, or DaaS environments. This includes helping customers migrate their legacy VDI infrastructure to IGEL and AVD solutions.

How has being a part of the IGEL Ready program improved your business or enhanced customer experience?

Chee Tan: By utilizing IGEL’s Unified Management System (UMS), administrators can easily configure and manage printers on multiple endpoints. The Vasion Print App for IGEL provides a streamlined and secure process for managing print jobs across different environments, significantly reducing the administrative burden and freeing up IT resources.

Vasion Print is a secure, cloud-based solution that fits into Zero Trust architecture. Both IGEL and Vasion Print adapt to your existing security protocols, ensuring your print infrastructure remains fully secure.

What are some of the key trends that are impacting your partners and customers in 2025, and how is your organization solving these?

Chee Tan: In 2025, existing security threats are accelerating as new cybersecurity attacks continue to rise. Zero Trust architecture keeps your data secure and only available to identified users. Vasion helps customers secure their printing and scanning infrastructure with end-to-end encryption, including mobile print, web print, and secure release printing.

Why is your organization a sponsor of Now & Next 2025?

Chee Tan: As a long-time IGEL Ready Partner, Vasion would like to showcase the newly launched Vasion Print solution for IGEL OS v12 in IGEL App Portal at the event.

With the release of Vasion Print for IGEL OS v12 solution, we would also like to demonstrate the IGEL-Vasion Print-Microsoft AVD print management SaaS solution to help mutual customers meet the most challenging security and scalability requirements.

Is this the first time you are sponsoring an IGEL event? If not, what keeps bringing your organization back to these events?

Chee Tan: We’ve sponsored over a dozen in-person and virtual events with IGEL since 2018. We see it as a valuable partnership to help people simplify print management.

What will you/your team present to attendees at Now & Next 2025?

Chee Tan: Topics we plan to cover during the technical bootcamp presentation and breakout session:

  • Vasion Print Solution for IGEL OS v12

As a healthcare organization, you’re no stranger to the complexities of managing a digital workspace. Between juggling multiple vendors, ensuring compliance, and keeping up with the latest technologies – it’s enough to keep even the most seasoned IT pro up at night.

But what if I told you there’s a way to simplify all that? A way to shift from reactive to proactive and unlock complete control over your digital workspace?

Netskope has been working behind the scenes with IGEL to do just that. By integrating seamlessly with existing tools and systems, they are empowering healthcare organizations like yours to:

  • Protect sensitive patient data and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Safely adopt new technologies and improve operational efficiency
  • Deliver a modernized and secure user experience for clinicians
